The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has published an important report, featuring analysis from McKinsey, called Towards the Circular Economy. The idea behind the circular economy is very similar to the cradle-to-cradle concept, which envisions closed loops of resources, either 'biological nutrients' that can be safely returned to nature, or 'technical  nutrients' that can be reused, remanufactured or recycled.
